- [Instructor] Once I strengthened my net-to-gross and porosity, now I am confident to move to saturations. Now, you can see the log as I've shown previously. This is where thin beds lie, and this is how the resistivity looks for the suppressed section. And as you go deeper, you see the massive beds. Now on the right side, I have showing you the saturation. The red is from saturations from Thomas-Stieber. The blue is the saturation height function, and the black dots are saturation measurements from Dean-Stark. Now, you can see that there is a nice and reasonable match between the saturation height function, and the saturation from Thomas-Stieber. So first I would like to talk about how I have developed the saturation height function. You can see in the right, I have shown porous plate capillary pressure data here. And you can see that it nicely boils down into three rock types, but if you see then, if you look at this one, this is not really a reasonable rock type. So if you look at these two, basically we have two rock types here. And I have used that information to develop the saturation height model here. Now that I have confident about my saturation height model and the saturation derived from Thomas-Stieber, I do have certain issues on the Dean-Stark, where you can see there is a good match in some places, but not in all the places. What I did was, I went ahead and saw where these plugs were taken from. So what happens in Dean-Stark is when you choose plugs from sections which are very thinly laminated, what happens is there is a chance that in your plug which is maybe one inch or 1.5 inch in diameter, and you will have a thin wax which can be as thin as arranging in centimeters. You do have possibility of having a sheer lamina sitting in your core plug, which can give rise to, even after numerous cleaning efforts, it can give rise to extra water saturation coming from the sheer lamina. So it is crucial, very crucial, how we select the core plug. But because of the resolution, we cannot cut core plugs as thin as centimeters, that is why, we are handicapped in this area, when it comes to plugging, trying to plug the best cores and also trying to, at the same time, describe the thinness.
